Take Care.

Okay, so i know everyone tattoo artist tells their clients something different about how to manage and care for their tattoos. I am no different. Although, every body, diet and rate of healing is different there are a few standards that apply to everyone. this technique works well for me and almost everyone i have recommended it to has agreed.
No one knows your body and your skin better than your body does so pay attention to it. if you begin to notice irritations or  problems, discontinue the harsher aspects of healing techniques and stick to the simple and time tested methods.

1: leave your bandage on for at least an hour. ( this allows for the capillaries to bleed out and the skin to calm a bit. you may leave it on up to 12 hours without problem.) do not re-bandage!

2. wash with a mild to cool temperature water and anti-bacterial soap ( preferably soap without fragrances or dyes. Dial orange or comparable item is what I use.) do not allow te water pressure from shower heads or faucets to beat on the tattoo directly. the impact of the water pressure could damage your already sensitive and damaged skin. do not pat dry. allow to air dry. ( this will keep moisture in the tattoo and keep the blood form drying and scabbing  and eventually removing ink.) repeat this step 2- 4 times daily or as needed.

3. Aquaphor healing ointment can be used for larger pieces. use sparingly and wrap at night with a plastic wrap to avoid bleeding onto sheets and allow to keep moisture in throughout the night. use only until the tattoo peels completely.

4. avoid the sun, swimming pools and over exercising the skin( take a day off.) after healing if you tan or spend a long time in the sun use an spf 45 or greater.

4. Keep clothes and undergarments, accessories, etc. from rubbing or scraping tattoo. do not allow pets or others to touch it poke it or grab it. their hands are dirty too and it’s painful.

5.after peeling discontinue using the aquaphor and use a mositurizer cream such as Lubriderm, kerry, Curel, etc. until the skin is returned to it’s normal health and appearance.

6.if any problems occur discontinue the more harsh methods of healing and stick to the time tested ways of healing any wound. keep it clean.  away from others. allow to breathe and rest.
